When my cousin Courtney and her fiancé, David, visited from Maryland, we knew it was the perfect opportunity to capture their spring engagement photos at the South Carolina Botanical Gardens. They were passing through on their way to Universal Studios, so our time was limited—and we crossed our fingers for clear skies.
Courtney and David’s love story is truly one for the books. They first met when David was studying abroad at a university near Courtney’s home. After his time in the U.S., David returned to the Netherlands to finish his degree, and they managed a long-distance relationship across continents. When David later came back to Maryland for graduate school, their bond only grew stronger. Courtney has even traveled to the Netherlands twice to spend time with him and his family. Next summer, they’ll be tying the knot in Maryland, followed by a second celebration in the Netherlands with David’s loved ones.
